Coreen Nelson

Key Roles

I am excited to be a part of the EIMS family and am currently teaching Grade 8 Science, and co-teaching grade 5 and 6 physical education.  I have been teaching since 2004 and over the years have taught at Jasper Jr/Sr High School in Jasper, Jesse Duncan School in Penhold, and Chinook Center School in Innisfail.  I have a science degree in Environmental Science and an education degree as an Elementary generalist, both from the University of Alberta.  I am also proud to be the newest staff member on Team Ambitie.

I live on an acreage south-east of Innisfail with my husband and three children; Charlie age 12 and in grade 7 at IMS, Oliver age 6 and Maggie age 5.   When I’m  not teaching, you can find me doing almost anything outdoors with my husband, three kids and my dog, Peyto.  Some of my favourite ways to play in the great outdoors include messing around in the garden, camping, hiking, backpacking, canoeing, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and cheering on my family at the BMX track.  I spend lots of my spare time in the winter coaching cross-country skiing with the Red Deer Nordic/Jackrabbit cross-country ski club, coaching children ages 4-12.  When the weather is too blustery to be outside you can find me inside, cooking, baking playing games with the kids, spending time with family or curled up and reading a good book.

Feel free to swing by the classroom anytime to have a visit.
